Best Magic Cookie Bar Recipe ever! These are a classic, with coconut, melty chocolate chips and a thick graham cracker crust. Also known as Seven Layer Bars.

Today is your lucky day because I am sharing one of my all-time favorite treat recipes! These magic cookie bars are AMAZING! My Aunt has brought these to our family parties and gatherings my whole life, and they are so good I always want to eat the whole pan.

They are called seven layer bars because they have seven ingredients, but you can adapt as you see fit. Growing up we would leave out the nuts because my little sister was allergic.

How to Make 7 Layer Bars

Top Left - Crush graham crackers into crumbs or blend in blender and add to a 9x13 baking dish. Melt your butter and pour over graham crackers. Mix together with fork and then push down with clean fingers to form a crust in the bottom of the pan.

Top Right - Sprinkle your butterscotch chips over the crust.

Bottom Left - Then add your milk chocolate chips.

Bottom Right - Chop your walnuts and add those, too.

Top Left - Sprinkle coconut evenly over the top.

Top Right - Drizzle sweetened condensed milk as evenly as you can over the entire pan.

Bottom Left - If needed, use a spatula to smooth out condensed milk.

Bottom Right - Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until edges are golden brown.

Pro Tip:This recipe is very adaptable. If you don't want nuts, don't use them. If you would rather use white chocolate chips then butterscotch, knock yourself out!

Can magic squares be frozen?

You can freeze Magic Cookie Bars.Let bars cool completely.

Wrap them individually in plastic wrap and then place them in an airtight container or a freezer bag.

Cookie bars can be stored in the freezer for up to 3 months. To thaw, leave them at room temperature for a few hours.

If your magic cookie bars are not done in the middle, you can keep baking them. You can cover the edges with aluminum foil to prevent them from getting too brown and continue baking until the center is set.

They will firm up a bit as they cool, so it's okay if they're slightly soft in the center when you remove them from the oven.
