8 Habits Of People Who Are Never Tired - Her Highness, Hungry Me (2024)

In this article, you’ll learn about the 8 daily habits of people who are never tired! (Or at least, not all the time).

8 Habits Of People Who Are Never Tired - Her Highness, Hungry Me (1)

I know I’m not the only person on the planet to have ever asked this question: “Why am I always tired?”. This isn’t about the first six months with my newborn a few years ago. We’re talking before and after that life-changing period of time.

Nothing like feeling physically weak, irritable, unfocused and just wanting to nap all the time after 11 hours of sleep the night before. And I wasn’t working myself to the bone there, given I’ve mostly worked in an office.

Now, don’t get me wrong. We all get tired sometimes. Most of us need to sleep at least 8 hours out of 24, so there’s that. But there are people who on most days have a lot of energy, are in a great mood and just seem to have everything going for them. They seem to never be tired.

Sometimes, that’s me. When I practice these healthy habits on a regular basis (not just a week or two), then everything just seems to flow. I feel energized, well-rested, productive and like I’m making great decisions. These are the practices I’ve observed in others who are always well-rested, focused and just have this peace and calm around them.

I hope these habits can help you too!

8 Habits Of People Who Are Never Tired

1. Invest Your Energy Right

Energy, just like time is a limited resource. And just like time, you cannot save it. We have a certain amount of it every day and we have to invest it the right way. Into the right things. Preferably that would be activities and people that make us feel alive and at peace.

There will always be people and things I like to call energy vampires. For example, it’s the news, it’s social media, it’s people who complain a lot or are negative all the time, it’s the act of overconsumption…In general, energy vampires are the things that make you feel small, fearful, doubtful or guilty. Avoid those at all costs, and surround yourself with the right people and things.

For example, I’ve stopped watching, reading or listening to any news, I’ve deleted Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. No digital detox for a month, I just deleted all of it. And it is so freeing. The time and energy you get back from this simple act…priceless. These two actions have improved my sleep, energy levels and stress levels. All of a sudden I have time to exercise, do more work and spend better time with my family. We have new, better topics to talk about.

2. They Do Things Intentionally

People who never get tired, they’re clear about their dreams, their goals, their purpose, about what they want in life and they don’t make excuses about it. They plan for it and they act on it. When you strive for something that you want, when you see the progress you crave so much, it makes you feel alive, motivated, happy and full of energy.

Doubting our decisions and the work we’re doing can be mentally draining, I know. Trust me. And it can make you feel tired and dissatisfied with life. So take that step and get clear.

Something that can actually help you gain clarity is a goal planner like this one. This printable will help you define your vision and the goals you want to work towards during the next year. It will help you break down your goals into milestones and actionable steps, so you can track your progress and turn those plans, and those dreams into reality. 3. They Keep A Workout Routine

Sometimes you need to put energy in, in order to create more energy. That’s the case with exercise. While overexercising can make you feel tired, doing a little bit every day can go a long way over time. I find that my perfect spot is something between 15-30 minutes in the morning. And I switch things up. Working out in the morning helps me stay focused and makes me very alert.

4. They’re Disciplined About What They Put Into Their Your Body

The food we eat, the drinks we drink all have their energetic cost. Drink mostly water, eat something that is alive (fruits and vegetables) and you will feel alive almost instantly. Avoid coffee, sodas, juices, sugar in general.

Focus on low-energy nutrient-dense foods and chew longer. Some great examples of foods to eat more of are fresh vegetables, fruits, seeds, nuts, spices and herbs. Notice we’re talking about raw whole foods, not products made with those foods (e.g. nut butter).

Eating better and avoiding overeating will result in overall improved general health which will help to reduce chronic inflammation and oxidative stress. Both of these biological processes are linked to chronic fatigue. Do this and you’ll be amazed at how quickly your energy will return!

5. They Have Regular Checkups

Have your doctor do some blood work to identify any nutrient deficiencies which might be making you feel tired. Chronic stress, bad nutrition, overexercise and not sleeping enough can make your body pretty deficient in several essential nutrients. For example, when you’re stressed, studies show you use up more vitamin C and vitamin C deficiency is associated with stress-related diseases (source). Vitamin C on the other hand can affect your iron levels. And do you know what happens when you don’t get out a lot? Your body starts screaming for vitamin D!

So, if you can, get your doctor to check you for anemia and nutrient deficiencies, supplement wherever needed and make sure to change the diet and lifestyle that’s been causing these deficiencies.

6. They Diversify Their Days

Life sometimes seems like one big giant thing full of the same old, same old. And when that happens, when every day looks like the one before for a few weeks or for a month you end up feeling drained. No matter how many hours you’ve slept, no matter what you ate.

Our bodies, minds and souls want to experience something new and exciting. Every now and then, on a regular basis. So every week, have something to look forward to, it can be something that will take you out of your comfort zone a little bit.

Go to a new place, try a new restaurant or a hairstyle, meet up with that new coworker for drinks, try a new sport or a dance class…Just sprinkle those little moments that make life memorable into your weeks. It’s not about taking a long luxurious bath and being this super meditator every day…when you do the same thing every day…routines can get tiring. Don’t get me wrong, structure and routines are needed for a good life, but we need novelty for our mental health. So if you’re not doing that, it’s time to put it on your plan for the week.

7. They get good sleep.

And I know, this is sometimes not by choice. If you’re like anyone in my family it might be hard for you to go back to bed if you’ve woken up in the middle of the night. But here are a few things to try for a night of good restful sleep:

  • spend a lot of time outdoors during the day
  • get tired physically during the day doing exercise, cleaning or gardening
  • read a relaxing book before bed or if you wake up in the middle of the night
  • have a bedtime routine – it helps to signal your brain that it’s time to go to bed
  • avoid using electronics, especially 1-2 hours before bed; instead, make this your time to relax

8. They Say Thanks!

In a world that talks a ton about gratitude, we hear more and more people complaining, being angry, and grumpy and pointing fingers. Be the nice person. Practice what you preach and express gratitude for the little things. It is draining to hear others complain or gossip, but it is exhausting when we do it ourselves. Often, we complain about things we can’t control anyway. Let them go and you’ll be at ease. Instead, change your mindset and start focusing on the things you like about your life, your job, your family, your relationships, nature…It will give you peace and it will fill you up with joy.

So, these were 8 simple things you can start doing if you’re feeling tired all the time! I hope they help you as much as they’ve helped me. Of course, this list is not exhaustive and what works for me, might not work for everybody, but still, I hope you got some new ideas!
